Course structure and goals

Each week, you'll explore:

  • A theme related to the experiential spirit of Iyengar Yoga, supported by readings and quotes from B.K.S. Iyengar and other inspirational sources

  • An asana practice (weeks 1,3,5,7) to help you embody and understand the theme

  • An asana laboratory lesson (weeks 2,4,6,8) that breaks down some of the poses in the sequence, incorporating creative use of props and Iyengar principles

  • Homework that will reinforce what you've learned and prep you for the next week


  • Weeks 1 and 2. Theme: Vertical Extension, Horizontal Expansion

  • Weeks 3 and 4. Theme: Health and Awareness (Periphery to Core, Core to Periphery)

  • Weeks 5. and 6. Theme: Integrity of Movement and Balance

  • Weeks 7. and 8. Theme: Lightness and Ease
